Infrastructure for those who build networks
Backbone, dark fibre, colocation and wholesale services for ISPs, carriers and enterprise. Flexible terms, API-driven provisioning.
Backbone & IP Transit
Access to BBI's national long-distance fibre network spanning 15,000 km, connecting all major cities and towns across South Africa's nine provinces. Deployed along Eskom power line corridors and Transnet rail servitudes — not exposed to road-based threats like cable theft or civil disturbances.
Dark Fibre
Unlit fibre strands between any two points on our 15,000 km network. For large corporations, banks and data centres requiring total control — light it with your own active equipment.
Colocation
Rack space in our Tier III data centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Redundant power (N+1), cooling, fire suppression and 24/7 physical security with biometric access.
Wholesale & MVNO
Wholesale fibre and carrier services for telcos, fibre network operators, ISPs and large corporations. Open-access model allowing seamless ISP switching without infrastructure changes.
Peering Policy
GIZO maintains an open peering policy and actively seeks to peer with networks that exchange meaningful traffic volumes. We peer at NAPAfrica in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Requirements
- ✓ Maintain a publicly routable ASN
- ✓ Register routes in an IRR database (AFRINIC preferred)
- ✓ Maintain up-to-date PeeringDB record
- ✓ Operate a 24/7 NOC reachable by email
- ✓ Exchange a minimum of 10 Mbps sustained traffic
- ✓ Only announce routes that are legitimately originated
To request peering, email peering@gizo.co.za with your ASN, prefixes, and preferred IX location.
